Hostel Guru is operated by Superior Hospitality Limited ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect through hostelguru.space and how we use it, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email address and password (stored securely, never visible to staff).
- Resident details: school, student ID, department, level, phone number, block and room.
- A face photo, used only so security staff can confirm your identity at the gate.
- Guardian contact details you provide: name, email, phone and relationship.
- Movement records: sign-out and sign-in times, leave dates and destinations.
- Complaints, posts and messages you submit, and room enquiries from visitors.
Why we use it
- To keep residents safe and know who is in the hostel.
- To alert your guardian if you are late, miss curfew or overstay leave.
- To manage rooms, respond to complaints and send hostel notices.
- To prevent misuse and keep a record of important actions.
Who can see it
Only authorised hostel management, wardens and security staff, and only what they need for their role. Complaints are visible to you and management only. We do not sell your information. We use trusted service providers to host the app and send emails.
How long we keep it
Movement records are kept for the period set by management (normally 12 months) and then removed. Account details are kept while you are a resident and for a reasonable period afterwards.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or withdraw consent for guardian alerts. Detail changes can be requested from your resident page. For anything else contact management at the hostel or on +234 705 555 3861.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit, access is restricted by role, and key records cannot be altered once saved.
